The Healing Room

I recognize that this is an uncomfortable subject for most people, but I think the best way to change that it to talk about it. Talking about it is also a way to help me heal. I am an incest survivor who thought I had recovered my memories almost 20 years ago. But as I spiraled deeper and deeper into depression, I realized that something was still very wrong. Just recently I have begun to have panic attacks again and I was also experiencing night terrors and reenactments of a far more intrusive and violent abuse. I went to stay with my sister and her family in Phoenix to undergo a week of intense EMDR treatment for PSTD. These are the gorgeous flowers they had in the bathroom for me in the beautiful, serene, environment they arranged in my healing room.

I used KaiserCraft papers and my homemade water distressed flowers.

I commend you for coming forward with your past, as I know it can be a hard memory to share, but at the same time it is part of the healing process. I myself have had something similar happen, and as we think we are healed as the years pass, events that we have buried within ourselves can resurface. My thoughts are with you and I will hold hope in my heart for you and your recovery. A truly beautiful and moving layout!

Gorgeous and moving. Although I have not experienced that kind of pain, I can only imagine how difficult it must be. I am so glad you had the opportunity to take some time for more healing to occur. And to document the recovery process.
