My June MCS main kit arrived!

GRANDMA

I just love getting my kits from My Creative Scrapbook, and since this month's main kit is "so not my style", I relied heavily on the work of the design team for inspiration, particularly Gabrielle, whose style most closely resembles my own, to create these pages.

Green in my favorite color, and so this first page of my mom and 2 oldest sons taking a breather on our hike through the Grand Gulch of Capitol Reef National Monument in Southern Utah back in 1993 was the easiest for me to do.

The papers are the "Savvy" collection from My Mind's Eye. The script paper is by 7 Gypsies. The kit also included a butterfly stamp from We R Memory Keepers. The flowers are all Prima. I don't know who makes the wood die cut, but love it! Its natural color fit my palette best, but I did ink it with slight touches of dark brown and just a hint of green for a little character.

I used the shadow stamp to make a pattern and then used the pattern as a mask to ink shadows for my stamped and hand cut butterflies. I then added stickles accents.

The title is a Silhouette cut. the ribbon and lace were also included in the kit. I also added liquid pearls from my own stash to the border, inking the edges dark brown as well.

HOODED

I am compiling albums to give to Ben and Astrid for their graduations from KU next May and this months kit perfectly fit the photos of Ben's last graduation with his Master's Degree from Southern Missouri University.

The kit included a bottle of red Glimmer Mist, and I cut the "happy graduate" die cut with my Silhouette to use as a mask.

The zig zag borders are cut from a sheet of the patterned paper. The chip board flowers and flower centers were part of the kit, as were the red alphabets. I layered the chip board flowers with Primas from the kit. The journal tag is cut from a sheet of pp.

Since these pages are for Ben, I am including these photos of his dad and step mom that Rhonda sent me clear back in 2006 following his graduation.

The square alphabets are cut from the back side of the background paper and the edges are inked with red. I cut apart a strip of ribbon flower trim from the kit and added the green flowers to the border strip, also hand cut from pp, and added liquid pearl centers. I also added liquid pearls to the patterned paper flowers, a direct copy of Gabrielle's design work with this kit.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Wow you have been busy! Love all of your layouts. You bring me so much inspiration! Love the first layout. I have that kit but have not opened it yet. When I saw your butterflies, I thought gee where did she get those. Happy to hear they are in the kit! Love the bright bold colors in the second layout and of course the butterflies!
